Market Review, Week Ending May 19, 2017

The US market experienced a slight pullback this past Wednesday with most news outlets attributing the decline to the firing of former FBI Director James Comey. While the market’s initial reaction was a selloff, in the days following, the market has rebounded nicely. This instance helps to highlight the risk of allowing headlines to dictate investment decisions.

Data released this past week showed that the U.K. unemployment rate dropped to 4.6% over the first three months of the year. This rate marks the lowest unemployment since 1975 in the U.K.

Looking forward to this coming week, economists are expected to release the most recent US and European Manufacturing indicators along with U.S. new home sales.
