Market Review, Week Ending June 9, 2017

Stock prices finished this past week slightly positive as economists await this coming week’s Federal Reserve meeting when the Fed is expected to update its economic projections and decide on another potential interest rate increase.

The good news for US stock prices is that the low-volatility rally continues to roll on. In the last 15 trading sessions, the S&P 500 has risen 11 times. The index’s single biggest decline was a mere .28% drop.

Looking abroad the UK general election resulted in a hung parliament, with no single party having a majority. Incumbent Prime Minister, Theresa May's Conservative Party, won the most seats, but will now need the backing of the Democratic Unionist Party to govern the UK. The Prime Minister still intends to see Brexit negotiations with the European Union continue next week.
